My greatest desire in life was to be a wife and mother. Marrying Jon at the ripe old age of 37 and having Seth at age 39 made all my dreams come true! God truly answers prayers - we have to trust that He is in control. Sometimes we just have to wait patiently for God's plan to reveal itself.
I have always loved anything to do with making my home a cozy, welcoming place. I love home decorating books and magazines. In college, my friends would laugh because while I was picking up the latest Cosmopolitan or Glamour magazine, I also purchased (and lingered over the longest) Southern Living and Good Housekeeping!
I enjoy antiquing and looking for wonderful vintage finds! Before Katrina, my home was filled with antiques I had collected over the years. After college, while other friends were going on cruises and other fun trips, I spent my income tax refunds on antique furniture. Losing all those beautiful pieces in Katrina broke my heart!! But, Katrina also taught me that those pieces were just "things".
I love collecting McCarty pottery. It is made in the Mississippi Delta where my mother was born and raised. I also collect Etta B pottery, vintage Ironstone, Fostoria, vintage Pyrex, and silver pieces. Searching for "special treasures" is just so much fun! I think coffee is a daily essential! I love the color pink, monograms, Dr. Pepper, Mexican food, and cheering on my Ole Miss Rebels!! Of course, I am also a very loud supporter of my favorite baseball player EVER, my son, Seth!
My husband and I have moved five times since we've been married. I retired in June 2014 after serving as an elementary school teacher, principal, and most recently the Director of Curriculum for a large school district on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. We recently moved back to central Mississippi to be near my family. We live right across the street from my father and around the corner from my big sister. We are having fun renovating and decorating our "forever" home!
Thanks so much for visiting Buttercup Bliss!
